I was able to attend my first UK cub camp this weekend. The cub pack is attached to my sisters school and is made up of students from the school only, a number are therefore boarding pupils. The camp itself was held at the farm belonging to the scout leaders and what a great location as it is within the New Forest. The kids were all really enthusiastic and very very well behaved, actually i don’t think i have met such polite children before and another big plus was the fact that they did not stay up all night so all the adults were able to sleep through the night without interruptions.

Our activities included a couple of wide games, walks out onto the Heathland behind the house. But the really good activity was the day trip to the Hawk Conservancy Trust in Andover (http://www.hawk-conservancy.org/). Here we got to see a whole range of birds but the most spectacular was the flying displays including the Red Kite’s, a Peregrine Falcon and the Bald Eagles. The cubs even got to hold some of the owls.

Back at camp the next attraction was the water slide, which i also had a go on. All too soon it was time to pack up and go home, oh well i believe the next camp is in May which is not that far away.
